Before you start working with us, we'd like to tell you a little more about how we work. We've outlined every step we take during the design of your book. Everyone – our graphic designers, desktop publishers, and you – have an important role to play in the design process. That's why it's important for us to let you know how we work, so we can make your book the best it can be!

Taking stock of your needs
As a writer and/or publisher, you naturally have a clear concept of what you want your book to look like. That's why the graphic designer will start by talking to you to discuss your preferences. We may ask difficult questions, but we need to have a good understanding of what you want. We can have this conversation by phone, video call or at our office.

Creating the quote
We'll take what we discussed in our conversation and make an inventory of the work required. We'll then summarize that information in a custom quote. All of the work will be detailed in the quote, along with the associated costs, what we need from you, and the schedule. It paints a clear picture of what we can expect from each other.

Designing the book
Now the exciting part begins. The graphic designer is going to design your book! This is a custom process, and we'll use the photos and copy you've provided. Of course we'll also take your design preferences into account. You can also expect our designer to work with you to make sure the design is exactly the way you want it.

Checking the book design
The graphic designer is done and the design process is finished. The DTP team then creates the print files and sends them to you for final approval. Take a good look at it, because it's your book! We're happy to take your feedback and make adjustments for you. We'll only move on to the next phase when you're happy with the design.

Getting your book printed
Wow, your book design is done! Now we can print the book. The desktop publisher will send the print files to the printer, and they will start the printing process. Before they start printing all the books, we can have a color proof made. Is the color proof in line with what you expected? Then the printer will print your books. After all the books are printed, the printer will ship them. Would you like to ship them to multiple addresses? That's no problem!

It's finally here. You've been working hard for months, maybe years, and now your book is a reality. You can hold your book in your hand for the first time. It's the end of a long journey. We hope you're very happy with the book and that it will be an inspiration to many.

How long does it take to design a book?
The answer to that depends on a lot of variables. If we receive all the material quickly, we can have a complete book or catalog design ready within a few days. That’s why a schedule is always included with every quote, so you know exactly what to expect.

We love designing books, so that’s no problem for us. And if you have the book printed by New Energy, the first half hour is free. So we’re happy to give you advice on how to design your own book.

The advantage of an hourly rate is that you have a good idea of the total costs you can expect, along with the flexibility to make different choices during the design process. We offer both pricing models, so it’s up to you to choose the best fit for you.

That would be a real disappointment. During the design and pre-printing process, our graphic designers do everything they can to prevent that from happening. But if you’re still not happy with the end result, then we’ll find a solution together. We are a happy company!
